PROMETHEUS kick-off meeting

🚀 On 27 May, we had the kick-off meeting for PROMETHEUS – the Microbial Electrochemical Methanation Initiative.

🔥 It was a good day! The entire consortium came together at SDU to present short overviews of the different work packages, discuss the plans ahead, and get advice from our advisory board.

🤝 A big thank you to Emre Ozdemir and Jochen Förster from DTU BRIGHT; Niculina Musat from AU Biology; Lars Angenent and Lars Ottosen from CORC / AU Engineering; Lorie Hamelin from Toulouse Biotechnology Institute; Diana Sousa from Wageningen University; and Konstantinos Anestis, Rhitu Kotoky, Jacek Fiutowski, Satoshi Kawaichi, Beate Kraft, Dr. Kerstin Fiege, and Francesca Petriglieri from SDU for the excellent discussions.

👋 We also had a very nice welcome from our Head of Department, Gary Banta, and a thoughtful wrap-up from our funding advisors from Novo Nordisk Foundation, Panagiotis Tsapekos and Torben Vedel Borchert.

🙏 We are especially grateful to our advisory board, who managed to get to SDU despite some serious traffic problems: Per Halkjær Nielsen from AAU, Anna Schnürer from SLU, Federico Aulenta from IRSA, Martin Jeppesen from Shell Biogas, and Brian Jonson from Biogasclean.

💡 We received excellent advice, a lot of support, and many useful suggestions for the road ahead.

⚡ I think we are in a very good place to hit the ground running and make PROMETHEUS a real powerhouse at the interface between fundamental research and industrial applications.
