We’re hiring! Apply before the end of the day on 1st May 2026
We’re looking for 1 postdoctoral candidate with a background in interspecies interactions, environmental microbiology, archaeal biology, or electromicrobiology to join us at SDU.
This is the first position on a Semper Ardens Accomplish grant, a 13 million DKK grant from the Carlsberg Foundation granted to Amelia as PI at the Department of Biology | University of Southern Denmark.
The aim is to understand the role of extracellular RNA in interspecies communication and sensing. For background, you can check our recent preprint on the role of eRNA in electron uptake by a methanogen here.
The postdoc will work in close collaboration with a PhD student on the same project, which investigates the role of specific eRNAs in direct interspecies electron transfer.
You can apply for the postdoc opportunity here.
We’re always on the lookout for talented and team-oriented colleagues

- Production of valuable chemicals using renewables (biogas, syngas, renewable electricity)
- Electrobiodegradation of toxic and environmentally detrimental chemicals
- Extracellular electron transfer in archaea
- Electromethanogenesis – mechanisms and strategies for engineering
