On the 9th of May 2016, Amelia received a prize from the Fyens Stiftstidende. Very honored being selected for this prize. Every year, two scientists from the island of Fyn receive this prize, which is popularly known as the Fyn Noble Prize.

Elite Forsk awards 2016

Sapere Award ceremony


During the Elite Forsk ceremony, Amelia was honored with the Sapere Aude Research Leader Award. The ceremony took place in a beautiful setting, at the Glyptotek in Copenhagen.

Electrogas meeting

On the 26th of February, Mon, Amelia and Bo met with the Electrogas consortium at the Engineering School, Aarhus University.  Every member of the consortium discussed their most recent experiments, and got input from all other members and industry partners.

Science Perspective

Amelia and Bo wrote a perspective for Science about methane oxidizing bacteria that are finally decoupled from their syntrophic partners.

You can find the perspective here. The perspective is with reference to an article in Science by Scheller et al. In this article, the authors managed to decouple ANME-type 2 from their sulfate reducing partners with the help of electron acceptors like chelated – Fe III. The paper can be found here.

New team member

On March 1st, Paola Andrea Palacios Jaramillo, will join our team. Paola will isolate methanogens which corrode iron, and will investigate how we can prevent corrosion induced by these organisms.

Paola finished her masters in Microbiology last September, at Aix-Marseille University. We are all very excited to meet and work with Paola.
