On 26th of February, Mon and Amelia will meet the Electrogas consortium at Aarhus University. We are going to discuss progress with our work packages. The European Union, including Denmark, plan to become fossil fuel free by 2050, therefore renewable resources like biogas and wind-turbine-generated electricity come in handy in order to produce the chemicals of the future while storing the excess electricity. Amelia: On the 27th of January I will visit the Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment in Oldenburg, Germany to speak about direct interspecies electron transfer and methanogens. Very excited to meet new and old friends and/or collaborators in Oldenburg.
From February 15th we will welcome our new team member – Dr. Satoshi Kawaichi from RIKEN biofunctional catalyst research team, Tokyo, Japan. Satoshi will work on microbial influenced iron corrosion. We are very excited to meet and work with Satoshi from 2016 onwards.
Amelia will give a talk entitled “Electric interspecies interactions” for the Departmental lecture series 2015/16 at the Biology Department, University of Southern Denmark. The 1 hour lecture is followed by drinks, snacks and hopefully lots of very interesting discussions.
Amelia will introduce the projects in our lab at the Nordic Center for Earth Evolution group meeting on Monday November 23rd.
